The universe is so vast that we often consider the entire solar system as home. Scientists have already developed many satellites that keep them well informed about what is happening with the neighbors of Earth and their moons. Well, we have come to know a lot in this field, but still, many bizarre things have to be explored. Here we have mentioned some of the strangest unexplained phenomena in our solar system:

The Storms On Saturn and Jupiter

Cyclones exist on every planet that has an atmosphere and possesses dust and cloud- including our Earth. Well, the ones on the Earth whether they are hurricanes or typhoons have a fairly round shape. The center of a cyclone remains surrounded by the eyewall i.e., a ring of towering thunderstorms where the most severe weather and highest winds occur. But this theory does not fit with the storms on Jupiter and Saturn as they often form hexagonal shapes like a honeycomb. Well, scientists have proposed many hypotheses in this regard, but this still remains a mystery.

The ‘Frankenstein’ Moon Named Miranda

One of the weirdest moons in this solar system is the Miranda that orbits Uranus. Being full of craters and deep canyons, its surface looks quite uneven. Well, there are many explanations for the bizarre outlook of Miranda- it may have suffered a series of calamitous impacts, there might be some volcanic eruptions, and more. But so far, none of them seem thematically fitting.

Neptune Radiates More Heat Than It Gets

The atmospheric temperature of planets depends upon their location from the Sun. In this way, Pluto is the coldest one, or you can simply call it as an icy hellscape. The warmest location on this planet has the temperature of -223 degrees Celsius. But this temperature is far more than what should be expected from one that is 7.5 billion kilometers away from the Sun. Scientists believe that the Neptune somehow radiates more than twice the amount of energy it gets from the Sun. Another point is that although the planet is very cold, it receives moderate rainfall and snowfall which basically consist nitrogen and methane. This suggests that the temperature should be enough to let these gases evaporate to form clouds.

There Might Be A Ninth Planet

Over the years, astronomers have noticed some odd gravitational patterns within the Kuiper Belt(a large asteroid field beyond the orbit of Neptune). Well, so far they have not been able to locate anything with a high gravitational force, astronomers have found that this is due to the existence of another planet which is approximately thrice the size of the Earth. Well, it’s hard to observe it with even the most advanced telescopes, astronomers have estimated that this planet would have an icy surface.

Methane On Mars

Though methane has been found on many planets, its existence on the Mars suggests the presence of life. This is because this gas is a common byproduct of excretion in plants and animals. You may already know that it is derived from cow dung, and often used as cooking gas. The small amount of methane found on Mars varies quite frequently, and the variations seem to be based on the seasons. Scientists proposed that they might be released by the rocks on the surface of Mars which are inhabited by the bacteria.

The Sun’s Upper Atmosphere Is Hotter Than Its Surface

The Sun’s surface is quite hot and bright as it’s temperature is 5500 degree Celsius. But do you know that the visible atmosphere above the surface can get several times hotter, and its temperature may range from 1-10 million degree Celsius? Although the Sun’s corona that is so faint that it can only be seen during a solar eclipse, it’s hotter than that of its surface. It may be due to the millions of nano-sized solar flares emitted by the Sun or because of the heat trapped within the dense atmospheric gases.

Venus’s Ashen Light

The Ashen Light of Venus has been the talk of the town among astronomers since the years 1643. In this phenomenon, the dark side of the planet becomes illuminated, and thus, it can be easily observed by using a telescope. Unlike the other entries on this list, the exact reason behind this seasonal event has not been found. Scientists think that this may be because when it comes close enough to the Earth, the light from the Sun can reach here at odd angles by bouncing off the planet.
