We are in the 21st century, but there are several technological myths that still prevail which are certainly not true at all and need not be paid heed. In this blog, we have shared some of these myths and the truth behind them. Read further to know more and enlighten yourself on what is right:

1. Higher pixels in camera phones ensure that they would click better pictures

One must be clear about the fact that the number of megapixels alone does not give you the guarantee of spectacular photographic performance. The reason behind the fantastic photos happens to be the entire camera module which mainly includes the light sensor used, the size and material of the main camera lens, the image processing hardware, and at last the software that ties these functions all together.

2. Apple computers are not prone to viruses

As the Mac operating system is Unix-based, and Unix offers a number of built-in security features hence it is much safer than the Windows OS. Apart from that, Apple has also included a wide number of security measures that would make attacking a Mac particularly challenging.

But, for your information, despite these strict security measures, there is also a Mac malware out there which is quite threatening itself. To name a few, viruses such as OSX/Leap, OSX/DNSChanger, OSX/RSPlug, OSX/Jahlav, OSX/MacSweeper are pretty dangerous for your computer.

3. Clicking on the refresh button would make the computer work faster

We have all right-clicked in the empty area on the desktop screen and refreshed it in order to make our computer work faster. However, the actual fact is that, unless there is any modification done to the icons, refreshing the desktop will not make any difference at all.

4. Keeping the USB devices close to the magnet will corrupt the data

Every hard disk drive comes with two powerful neodymium-iron-boron magnets that are meant to control the movements of the read/write heads. To tackle such a powerful device, it would take a strong magnet to affect the data that is present inside the hard disk drive. Even when you pass a neodymium magnet over a hard disk drive, it will only render the hard disk and make it unusable thus leaving most of the data intact.

5. Charging your phone with a third party charger will ruin its battery

It is one of the most popular myths that has made many people think that charging the phone when it is at zero percent will eventually increase the longevity of the battery. However, in reality, if you happen to allow your battery-powered devices to go dead each and every day, then it will reduce the battery’s effectiveness over time. So, in order to prolong the battery life of your electronics, just stop letting your phone’s or laptop’s battery die on a regular basis. Also, when you happen to buy a brand new phone from a certain manufacturer, the manual clearly instructs that you should always buy and use chargers from the company that has made your device. But in reality, the phone charger is definitely in no way related to the battery life of your phone. Any reputable third-party charger would just prove to be fine. Moreover, the only ones that you have would watch out for would be the super-cheap, and black-market chargers. These are probably not as reliable and some of them might give your phone a really hard time.

We hope you avoid paying heed to the technological myths mentioned above and would work smartly.
