Work Breakdown structure:

Task 2: Perform small-scale research, information gathering and data collection to generate knowledge to support the project.

P4. Carry out small-scale research by applying qualitative and quantitative research methods appropriate for meeting project aims and objectives.

Research methodology

This sector determines the structure for the research of the project which allows the researcher to devise the strategy for the research as well as conduct secondary data to confirm the hypothesis.

Research Method

The method of conducting the research was by organising a session of interview with questionnaires backed up with evidence from secondary research.

Data Collection

The collection of data is very important for gathering evidence that either confirm or refute the research hypothesis (Lewis 2015). The types of data being collected are divided into two categories. The primary data being the experimental data that is the actual research being done by the researcher, by the second category of data collection that is secondary data. Secondary data is the form of literature evidence about the current topic of research which provides an idea for devising the strategy for evidence (Ingram et al. 2016).

Data Analysis

Analysis of both secondary as well as primary data is important for evaluating the ultimate result from the collected evidence (Ingram et al. 2016). The analytical techniques will help the researcher sort out the result to either confirm or refute the research hypothesis.

Data Sampling

It is very important to set a standard sample for conducting primary data collection. The research needs to be conducted on a particular number of samples, in these case respondents who will be taking part in the interview process.

Ethical consideration

It is essential to adhere to the legislative and governance rights of privacy while conducting research based on responses of human beings. In this project also it is required to maintain the privacy of the respondents and conduct unbiased primary data collection.

Qualitative data analysis

Q.1 According to you how do you feel that digital technology will Aid the company in any way?

Ans. The replies of the first and the second manager were near about same with a little deviation in some points. The first manager answered that in today's world it near about compulsory to implement digital technology in all the branches. Not only it saves time, but the workforce that is required to do a certain task is reduced by a considerable amount. The time a certain task takes to be completed can also be reduced. The second manager replied that the communication would get improved at an exponential percentage and the capital required for any plans or tasks will also decrease drastically. Digital and social media can be used in various ways, the name of the company can be promoted, and the services will reach new places. More and more people will know about the company and that too globally.

Q.2 Is competitive advantages can be achieved by using the digital media?

Ans. The first manager said that it is practically possible to gain an advantage by the use of digital media, as mentioned earlier with the help of social media the brand can be promoted and the brand name can reach to multiple corners of the world. Not only will social media help the brand name to reach to all the people, but this brand promotion will be very cost effective and budget friendly. The second manager said that social media could also help in keeping an eye on the competition. It is obvious that the competition will also digital media to promote their brand and market survey can be done by that as to what is the name reach of the competitors in the competitive market. What new strategies are the competitors applying in their marketing approach and how effective is it working. They can devise new and fresh strategies by that, and the union of all these points will help the organisation to gain a competitive edge over the competition if used properly.

Q.3 Do you think that mobile technology and social media can help the business and how?

Ans. The first manager said that mobile technology could help the brand to establish proper communication over the world and vice versa. It can communicate and strategise with various partners and groups to devise and discuss new business plans. The company can use various social media such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube to promote their business. Even the option of paid promotion is also available. The company can use Facebook as a means of post promotion; it can regularly update as to what new services are being provided by the company and what is the progress of any given product or service. The second manager believes the same; the communication factor will get stronger. The audience or the targets customers can also interact with the company ask questions to give their valuable and constructive feedback. Further on top of that, it can also be taken care of as to what the competition is up to. The new partnership can be proposed globally. And a more efficient and universal network can be created with the help of social media. The manager also added not only the use of social media, but the company can create their application for all the popular mobile platforms such as Android, IOS, Windows, so that the company name can be promoted more extensively and properly. The application can be promoted over social media, and various options will be available to the targeted customers, and they can buy the product and services by the company without the involvement of the third party.

As ASDA is a retail company and it mainly deals with storing and retailing of certain products so the company can use digital technology as a means to do that without the interference of any third party.

Identification of the techniques or process through which employees can adapt the digitalisation process

Not only the use of digital technology but the implementation of it in the veins and branches of the company is also equally important. The company has to train their employees on the basis of the digital platform and the uses of it. It will make the company infrastructure more stable and strong.

P7: Reflect on the value of conducting the project and its usefulness to support sustainable organisational performance

The time that I spent with ASDA that helped me gain a lot of insight into me and boosted my carrier in various ways. Knowledge regarding digitalisation and various new technologies has also strengthened.

Competency

How I have developed in this area

What I need to do to develop further

Analytic Skills

The knowledge as to how to apply digital media in practice, and the analytical aspect of the retail market and how to merge that with digital media all these points have been grasped by me.

New methods and procedures of applying digital media with company’s already existing infrastructure.

Communication skills

I have improved my communication skills at an exponential rate, and that is visible in this project itself. Interviewing managers and other parties helped me a lot in this matter.

I need to work on my confidence more and increase my vocabulary to pose questions in a simple manner.

Strategic Thinking

The questions in this project have been set in such a way so the pattern is chronological and the respondents have no problem in understanding them. All the questions are interrelated and easy to understand and answer.

As I am talking to different people understanding their psychology and from what perspective are they giving the answer took me a while to understand I will improve upon that.

Research skills

The questionnaires set by me were relatable and covered all the important aspects of the aim. And answered all the questions on the implementation of digital technology in the brand.

The questions could have been more specific, and the number of questions could have been reduced by keeping the data intact. Will work upon that.

Conclusion

From the above research, it can be concluded that the implementation of digital technology can help the particular company in spectacular scenarios. The research methodology that has been used is minutely described and explained in this paper. The area of opportunities and self-retrospection has been detailed as well. Visit to get essay help
